This Bayou Dorcheat Paddling Trail is accessed from the boat launch at Dixie Inn (near Minden, LA). This trail offers a serene escape with opportunities to observe wildlife such as deer, beavers, otters, and bald eagles. The area features sandy bars ideal for rest stops and picnics. In June 2023, a new kayak launch dock was inaugurated at this location, enhancing accessibility for paddlers. Along this scenic six-mile route between the towns of Dixie Inn and Sibley, you’ll paddle past beautiful cypress trees, sunlit sandbanks, and a retired train trestle. Depending on your pace (and the water level/current), this paddle can last 3+ hours.

Trail type:  Paddling (Point to Point)

Trail length: 6 miles

Description: Beautiful, easy paddle through open water, past towering cypress trees and sunlit sandy banks. For a quick video of this route visit https://www.relive.com/view/v36Aep9j5Z6
