22 friends met at 7:00pm in Dixie Inn on Saturday July 5th for a Moonlight Float on Dorcheat. We paddled upstream this time, which was a first for most in the group. After paddling for 2 miles, we headed back and found a sandbar where we stopped, roasted wiennies and just chilled for a while. The thunder definitely got our attention but luckily stayed in the distance. We headed back around 10:00pm with our lights showing the way. The moon was only 75% full so it was a challenge avoiding the stumps and branches in the water. Thanks to Mark Robinson for planning and leading this event! And for cooking the hot dogs!

Wow, great picture of the evening sky with all us paddlers on the bayou below! 🤩 What a fun night!
We had a fine evening! Melissa's root beer floats, Marian's brownies and a couple of watermelon servings complemented the hot dogs quite well. We had quite a few newer members who experienced one of our most scenic waterways. I'm looking forward to going back out when the water drops more and we get bigger sandbars. Then it will be bonfire time!
