During an event today, I heard stories about how members learned about BCOS and when they joined. Please put a comment below about how you learned about BCOS and why you decided to join the group.
I learned about the annual canoe clinic from the newspaper in the early 1990's. I attended that clinic on the Ouchita River, but didn't really get active until Dean Miller led a series of hikes and backpacking trips along the Ouchita Trail. We would take a section of the trail one weekend each month until the entire trail was finished.
I worked with long-time BCOS member Sandy Roerig at LSU Health Sciences Center. She told me several times about this cool outdoors group that she belonged to. When I retired in 2013, I started looking for active groups to keep myself busy when we weren't traveling. I joined BCOS around 2014 and became more active around 2016. There have been lots of footsteps and paddle strokes with BCOS folks over the last 10 years!
