About the event
The Ark-La-Tex Orienteering Society (ALTOS) will be holding an orienteering meet this Saturday at the Caney Lakes Day Use Area. Preregistration ends today (1/11/23) for $8. You can find registration information on the ALTOS website at Louisiana Orienteering (altosonline.org). If you just want to day hike and not be part of the competition, you can participate for $3. We still need you to preregister so we can have a map available for you to use. Late registration is $10. You will need to bring something that points to north (a compass is handy), appropriate clothing and footwear for the woods, water, snacks, etc. There will be a concession stand run by the Haughton JROTC booster club with a combo meal available for $7. This meet is a score O, meaning you can go to as many or few controls as you like during the 90 minute time limit. A watch is good to have so we don't have to go looking for straglers. You should probably plan to arrive by 9:00am to finish your registration and get instructions. You can email jenny@altosonline.org with any questions. See you in the woods!
