About the event
BCOS Lower Mt Fork Paddle
Broken Bow, OK
July 20, 2024
Hello friends! The time is fast approaching for an exciting journey down the lower Mt Fork River at Broken Bow so here’s the plan:
- 4 mi, 1/2 day trip (should take approx 3 1/2 to 4 hours)
- Site location: Skippa-Rock River Floats
- 7036 E Hwy 70 Broken Bow, OK 74728
- skippa-rock.com is website
- Office 8-5: (580)835-2275
- Park at location with takeout there on same site.
- Rentals: (870) 582-5701
- Encouraged to call ahead and make reservations asap w/ deadline of AT LEAST 5 DAYS PRIOR TO EVENT. You must CALL as online reservation link not up yet. Tell them you are reserving with the "OZARK for 10:00 float start on July 20”. Must reserve w/ CC.
- Please arrive by 09:00 to get prepared, assigned rental gear, bathroom, etc as we will be on the water ON TIME 10 AM!I believe we have a short shuttle to put in site to include in this prep time.
- Rentals for the 4 mi trip:
- Single kayak $30 cash/$35CC
- Tandem kayak $60cash/$65CC
- Bring your own boat- website says they will shuttle it to start for you for $15. It is very rocky so if you don’t wish to bang your personal boat up, I’d recommend renting. *I also encourage calling them for complete details if you bring your own boat.
- There is no alcohol allowed on this portion of river.
- Class 2 rapids expected with the fun Presbyterian Falls small drop toward the end.
- Be sure to have a way to secure cameras because you WILL get wet on this trip.
- Minimum age: 6 yrs and height: 42 in.
- If the dam reaches 3900 cu ft/ sec, visitors are not allowed to enter river. Dam regulation does follow a schedule but can increase at any time. I have been told that the outfitter is generally notified within 24 hours prior to release and in the event this happens, I will send out further correspondence as soon as notified. This is a McCurtain Co. Park regulation so let’s just keep our fingers crossed as we always do on such trips.
- Bring your best smile and thirst for adventure!
Happy travels always!
