About the event
Ladies Lake Ouachita Island Campout
You’ve seen “Alone” and “Naked and Afraid”. Let’s have our own survivalist show (since we know the shenanigans always seem to get filmed). But with clothing and a slightly longer gear list. Emphasis on slightly, cuz you gotta fit EVERYTHING on your kayak. We’re Island Camping!!!
When: Friday September 15th through Sunday September 17th. Some of us will meet at noon and scout out which island to camp. If some of you are working and cannot get there until later, we will paddle back to the launch site and meet you at 6:30pm. We cannot wait too late as we will run out of daylight. We can also make arrangements if you can’t come until Saturday morning.
Where: Lake Ouachita, Arkansas
What: We will put in at a launch off of Tadpole Road NEAR Buckville Recreation Area and kayaking “The Rabbit Tail” water trail. This trail is unmarked. I have a map, but we’ll probably get lost. It’s fun to get lost. We will camp on one of the many islands.
Parking/amenities: Launch site linked. It is very close to Buckville Recreational area which has restrooms and showers. (If you paddle back to take a shower you will not win the prize, lol)

Duration: Friday through Sunday (Unless you tap out. Last person to leave wins prize. Hint, it’s NOT a million dollars)
What to bring: Kayak, paddle, PFD, tent or hammock and tarp, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, WATER, food, headlamp, dry bags, bug spray, sunscreen (prep clothing/sleeping bag with Permethrin). We’ll have a camping grill. I also have a satellite communicator and GPS device with SOS. I also have a fairly large bear bag (probably won’t see bears, but they CAN swim).
Contact Person: Bonnie Roberts (bpaine22@comcast.net), Teresa Mathewes Coates (teresacoats@rocketmail.com)
This event is NOT glamping. We will be smelly. We will be dirty. We will be savage and howl at the moon!!! So, channel your inner wild woman and join us.
