About the event

Join us to CLIMB MT. DRISKILL!!

Calling Driskill Mountain a “mountain” — while technically true — might need a little clarification....

While considered a high point in Louisiana, elsewhere in the world, this little mountain would just be a hill. Consider its elevation: 535 feet above sea level. To put that in perspective, there are two buildings in downtown New Orleans that are taller than Driskill’s summit. And compared to the largest mountains in the world, Mount Everest and Denali, you’d have to stack 55 and 38 Driskill mountains respectively to reach their summits.  However small this little mountain might be, there is plenty of adventure and beautiful scenery to make this a fun and memorable hike.

When:  Monday 1/15/24 at 10 am

Where:  The trailhead for this hike is at the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church on Hwy 507 at 11:00am.  The best directions are to Google "Driskill Mountain Trailhead" and follow your GPS or use this link https://goo.gl/maps/HVFo5KZUMmJQ9wxWA

Duration:  This is a 1.8 mile (total) out and back hike.  Should take about an hour or so (we'll take our time and enjoy the view from the top for a while)

What to bring:  The usual... good hiking shoes, water, bug spray.  Bring a small bag to pick up/pack out any trash we find along the hike

After the hike:  We'll plan to grab lunch in Arcadia, LA

Meeting location to CARAVAN:  Those that want to caravan together plan to meet at 8:30 am at the PILOT STATION in Haughton  - Interstate: I-20 & Hwy 157, Exit 33 Google location:  https://goo.gl/maps/Xv4FZDDtWNGxPsQu9
