About the event
Paddling Morehouse Parish leads an annual paddle to the 1,000 year old giant cypress tree nicknamed the "Castle Tree" every September. Assuming the water levels and weather cooperate we'd love to join them!
Here are the details:
When: Saturday, September 2nd
Where: The Bayou Bartholomew launch in Chemin-A-Haut State Park
Cost: $3 per person to enter the park
Time: The group is planning to be IN THE WATER by 9 am (so need to arrive there early to unload boats, etc)
Meeting location to CARAVAN: Those that want to caravan together plan to meet at 6:15 am at the PILOT STATION in Haughton - Interstate: I-20 & Hwy 157, Exit 33
Paddle details: The out and back paddle is around 5.5-6.0 miles total and will take several hours to complete.
What to bring: the usual for a summer paddle... pfd, bug spray, sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks
After the paddle we're planning to grab lunch somewhere in Sterlington (we'll have worked up our appetites!)
