Buckeye Trail Maintenance

Hello BCOS Friends and Family, Hope you have enjoyed a lovely holiday season and are ready for a fun line-up of BCOS events during 2023. Want to let you know that, this year, we will do maintenance on the Buckeye Trail, rather than the usual Athens-Big Fork trail. The A-BF stays in pretty good shape overall, but the Buckeye needs some serious help in spots. Date for this event will be Saturday, March 4. (If anyone is willing to work the morning of Sunday, March 5, then we'll put in another half-day on the Buckeye before heading home.) The Buckeye trailhead is north of Shay Lake campground. However, Shady Lake will not be open until April 15, so we will be staying at Daisy State Park near Kirby. This is the same place we stayed last year. Daisy has RV hookups, tent sites (both walk-in, as well as tent pads at rv sites). They also have bathrooms with hot showers and three yerts. The yerts sleep 6 people or so (bunk beds). As of this past Thursday, all three yerts were available   for March 4th and 5th. WE WILL BE IN CAMP AREA E. I strongly encourage you to make reservations early. You can make reservations by calling their office directly at 870-398-4487 (office staff have   always been helpful).
